Jerkovic completes surprise comeback with winner

Ivan Jerkovic completed his surprisingly fast return from surgery by scoring the winning goal as DPMM FC posted a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Albirex Niigata (Singapore) at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei on Saturday evening.

The midfielder surprised everyone at the stadium by making it into the starting lineup, just four weeks after he had gone for surgery for appendicitis.

DPMM found themselves a man down seven minutes from time when midfielder Rosmin Kamis was sent off for his second yellow card of the match, and Albirex took advantage two minutes later by scoring through Tetsuya Kishida.

But the Bruneians recovered in the second half and equalized through Haji Subhi Abdilah on 75 minutes, before Jerkovic scored his comeback goal four minutes later to win the match for his side.
