DPMM's defensive spine have been handed long bans from the S-League and all FAS-sanctioned competitions beacause of their violent conduct during the team's S-League's match against Home United on August 2nd.
According to a Press Release by the FAS last night, the FAS Disciplinary Committee handed Croatian libero Rene Komar a staggering 15-month ban, with captain Pg Sallehuddin facing a year-long ban and right back Yusof Salleh forced out action for six months.
After Pg Sallehuddin was shown his second yellow for dissent just seconds after receiving his first for whar referee K.Kalimuthu judged was a foul on a Home United player in the 39th minute, the game was stopped for nealry half an hour after certian DPMM players aggressively confronted the referee.
Though he wanted to abandon the match, Kalimuthu decied to playon, but only after Rene and Salleh were shown their marching orders as well since he thought they inverstigated the fight.
The FAS announced last Friday that it was charging the trio for bringing the game into disrepute- facing charges fro violent conduct against Kalimuthu.
The three players all admitted to the charges against them, though they were not present to the hearing.
Komar admitted to the charge of violent conduct when he confronted Kalimuthu, manhandled and punched him.
Pg Sallehuddin admitted to the conduct when he confronted Kalimuthu in an aggressive and threatening manner and shoved the ref.
Yusof also admitted to violent when he confronted and mishandled him.
The FAS' statement told the trio can appeal the decision within 7 days.
The ruling goes to prove how fast things can change in football.
Leading the league in three different times, confidence was riding high and they even had their eye on a treble - hoping to win the s-League and the Singapore cup as well.
But after yesterday's nightmare, it will now take a miracle for DPMM to turn that dream into reality.
